Ever wondered why you receive a file marked CC (Color Chart), with every design you download? Let me show you the many useful information on this document.
WHat is a COLOR CHART?
In short a COLOR CHART sheet is a visual reference guide to assist you with embroidering your embroidery design. It’s an image file (marked .jpeg) included in the folder you download.
This file cannot be loaded on an embroidery machine and even if it shows up on your USB it will not be “seen” by your embroidery machine.
WHY DO I GET A COLOR CHART SHeet?
This is a very useful file and can help you a great deal when embroidering. Let’s look at all the information on this document!
1. ESTIMATED STICHES OF DESIGN
This shows you the rounded of amount of stitches of the design. Helpful when you want to calculate how long a design might stitch or what you need to charge for the embroidery.
2. ESTIMATED SIZE OF DESIGN
Shows you the actual size of the design in mm. Helpful when you want fit exact sizes on a project or fit in a specific hoop size.
3. SUGGESTED COLOR NUMBERS
We use Marathon Thread to test our designs and these numbers are the numbers we use seen in the actual embroidered design. The actual thread colours may differ slightly when embroidered on the actual item and therefore these just act as a guide for you to use. Always test embroider your design on a fabric close to what you intend to embroider as a final item in color and texture.
4. SCALE
Shows you the actual size of the design in mm. Helpful when you want fit exact sizes on a project or fit in a specific hoop size.
You can change colours as you please. Just print out the file included in your purchase named CC (looks like picture). Now, say for example you want to change the yellow outline of the plane design in this example to green. Following the sequence it means (at bottom of page), the outline will embroider last. Thus all you need to do is to swap the suggested yellow colour thread with the green thread you prefer when the embroidery machine reach this point. In this case the last tread change.
The “bulls-eye” in the embroidery design is the middle point of the design. When exact placement is needed, print out the file included in your purchase named CC (looks like picture). Cut around the edges of the design, making sure to have the bulls-eye visible. Place how you want the design to embroider on the physical item. Now secure the cut-out with some lightly sprayed spray-on adhesive to use as guide. Simply frame item as usual keeping the printed representation of the design and middle point in line with your embroidery frames middle point.
The sequence of the design elements are ordered to deliver the result shown. Should you change the sequence results may vary and the digitizer will not be held responsible should the outcome not be correct.
Changing the size of the embroidery design might also alter results. This is because some machines do not allow for stitch density compensation. For instance, the puzzled airplane design (on the previous page) has 4200 stitches. Should you enlarge the design, although it might be bigger than the 5.03cm x 3.82cm indicated, the machine will still stitch out 4200 stitches. Thus, it does not “add” more stitches to make the stitching denser. The same applies when making the design smaller. The machine will stitch out 4200 stitches but in very close proximity and not deduct stitches to get the required result.
I test the designs and review it to ensure top quality.
Always test stitch the design, or portions of it, before stitching it onto the final item, on similar type of fabric, as results may vary depending on the fabric and stabilizer combination.
